A Memorable Race

Early in the 2006 A10 Indoor 3000m Championship, Sean's shoe was nipped from someone in the pack at the start of the race. Sean stopped to try to get his shoe back over his heel without success, then stopped again to frantically attempt to untie and fix it. Since he was passed by the competitors and far behind in last place, Torp, with arms folded, said something to Sean which I thought was his permission to step off the track and quit the race. Well, Sean got back up after being unsuccessful in fixing his shoe problem and on the second lap, Sean kicked of his shoe and raced to catch the pack. Torp picked up the shoe and was waving and shaking it as he was verbally pushing Sean around the track. One-by-one Sean picked off each runner and eventually won the race! As the race was finished I turned to take a picture of Torp but he was gone...I don't know how he got to the finish line so fast but he was there hugging Sean, still holding Sean's shoe!!!

Another Torp Memory

This is from the 2006 spring season. Moments following the victory in the women's 4x800, the men were on the track for their turn at the title. It was a close race and in the end LaSalle won! Torp ran from the track, up the hill, cheering and yelling, then started dancing in celebration!
